37th Meeting of European Chemicals Agency Member State Committee

HEAL attended the 37th meeting of the ECHA Member State Committee (MSC) in Helsinki. Representatives participate in several REACH processes and are responsible for resolving divergences of opinions among Member States and on proposals for the identification of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs).

As the Member State representatives and ECGA officials of the Committee have been undertaking their annual review of the participation of accredited stakeholder observers including NGOs in MSC meeting, this meeting was an important opportunity for HEAL to show its ongoing contribution to the work of MSC, especially regarding decisions on which chemicals get named on REACH’s most harmful list.

Attendance at this meeting proved useful with engagement and exchanges between HEAL’s Senior Policy Adviser on Chemicals Lisette van Vliet, and many Member State representatives and share information on ongoing and upcoming issues, new policy developments, all related to REACH and other chemicals management.
