HEAL supports ‘More than Energy’ initiative in Poland
‘More than Energy’ is a nation-wide coalition in Poland, made up of local governments, institutions, NGOs and individuals, wishing to improve energy efficiency and increase renewable energy sources. HEAL in Poland is a partner of this initiative.
Launched on 9 June, the initiative was created in response to huge public support for energy efficiency and renewable energy sources in Poland. Public opinion polls show that over 88 percent of Poles would like to increase investments in renewable energy. HEAL in Poland welcomes and supports these efforts as a shift in the Polish energy system will result in an unquestionable improvement of air quality and better public health.
The set-up of a public energy system in Poland requires fair, transparent and efficient regulatory mechanisms to support investments both in electricity and heat production. There is also a need to improve household energy efficiency as a priority for national investment programs.
This initiative allows for the active participation of citizens, institutions and companies (not connected with the energy sector), to invest in renewable energy sources and common efforts to improve energy efficiency. All stakeholders involved are hoping for a brighter future for the Polish energy system, encouraging politicians to create solutions to support its development.
