EFA and ECC: World COPD Day 2013 commemorated under the auspices of the Lithuanian Presidency of the EU

On 28 November, the European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients Association (EFA) and the European COPD Coalition (ECC) celebrated World COPD Day 2013 with the event “What role for diseases and patients in shaping Horizon 2020? A COPD case study of patient involvement”.

This conference, which was organised under the auspices of the Lithuanian Presidency of the European Council offered a diverse range of discussions structured into three different sessions. In addition to this, free spirometry testing was available to raise awareness of COPD and to promote tools for early diagnosis.

The event included a wide range of speakers - MEPs, policy makers, researchers, health care specialists, COPD patients and other stakeholders. Such a diversity of perspectives allowed a comprehensive approach to all discussed topics. This event also served as a platform for the first public presentation of the newest EFA book on Minimum Standards of Care for COPD Patients in Europe.

The programme of the event and related press release are available. A report of this event will be published soon.
