EFA: Manifesto for the European Parliament Election in May 2014
On 17 October the European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Associations (EFA) launched its Manifesto for the 2014 European Parliament elections. The aim of the Manifesto is to call on Members of European Parliament to commit themselves to three priority areas to improve health and quality of life of people with asthma, allergy and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in Europe. The three priorities are:
1. To develop an EU strategy on chronic diseases with specific chapters for different diseases; 2. To invest in prevention – tackle health determinants; 3. To help ensuring equal access to care for each patient.
We believe that following these objectives, the Manifesto should improve the quality of life and well-being of patients with allergies and respiratory diseases in Europe. It should also guarantee healthy ageing for all EU citizens and make the healthcare systems more sustainable.
