ELF: World Spirometry day

Spirometry tests are an important tool in diagnosis and condition management, and can help patients understand the impact of indoor and outdoor environments on their lungs.

If you are holding a World Spirometry day event as part of the healthy lungs for life campaign, then the event toolkit is now available in eight languages here. People are encouraged to hold an event at a time that works for them, in your hospital or surgery, or in a public place (perhaps somewhere with high or low pollution levels), such as a city centre or a park.

Previously, World Spirometry Day events have been held across the world. In 2012, more than 760 events took place in 70 countries, with 73 spirometry training events held in both low and high income countries.

The healthy lungs for life website will keep you up-to-date on all the latest news regarding the 2014 theme of ‘Breathe clean air’ and the events that will be taking place across the world and at the ERS International Congress in Munich in September.
