Environment and Health Fund: Conference on pesticide use in Israel
The Environment and Health Fund, in collaboration with the Hartog School of Government and Policy in Tel Aviv University and the Israel Union for Environmental Defense, held a public conference on 2 March on the issue of pesticide use in Israel.
The aim of the conference, held as part of the Pesticide Action Week initiative, was to present the current state of regulations and information regarding pesticide uses in Israel.
Over 300 participants attended the conference and took part in discussions on issues such as: pesticide residues on fruits and vegetables, agricultural use of pesticides close to residential areas, pesticide used around schools and public parks and regulations on pesticides.
A survey launched before the conference to assess public knowledge in Israel with regards to pesticides got over 1,000 respondents in just a few days and emphasised the importance of the issue in public eyes.
