Fundación Alborada – First training on Environmental Medicine at public hospital

After a long time of trying to introduce Environmental Medicine into the public health system, Fundación Alborada has taken a big step forward. For the first time in Spain a group of physicians and nurses are being trained at a public hospital.

Through this blended learning by Fundación Alborada, health workers are being informed about environmental diseases. Some of them already had a vague idea, but others have shown surprise and perplexity about the large number of toxic chemicals that surround us and their possible consequences.

In the same line of action, a Basic Course of Environmental Medicine has been approved by the Official College of Physicians in Madrid. Fundación Alborada is organising and participating in this training specially directed towards doctors who want to learn about the main principles of this specialty.

The objective is to bring this training to other hospitals and professional colleges throughout Spain, sharing knowledge and expertise. Improving the handling of environmental diseases by the Spanish Health System will be successfully achieved through these initiatives and others in the mid-term.
