Générations Futures: Launch of an Elected Committee for Alternatives to Pesticides
During Pesticides Action Week at a meeting in the presence of parliamentarians, local politicians and journalists, Agir pour l’environnement, Générations Futures and l’Union Nationale de l’Apiculture Française (National Union of French Apiculture UNAF) launched a committee elected for alternatives to pesticides.
France in size, is the first European country to use pesticides and the third in the world behind the US and Japan. In 2011, more than 62,700 tonnes are active substances were sold which all had consequences for health and the environment.
The purpose of the committee is to train and inform elected officials about the dangers of pesticide use, disseminate and share good agricultural practices to significantly reduce pesticide use by promoting existing alternatives. Agir pour l’environnement, Générations Futures and UNAF all call on French parliamentarians and elected officials to sign the charter http://comiteeluspesticides.org/ and to engage in the committee elected for alternatives pesticides.
