37th Meeting of European Chemicals Agency Member State Committee

HEAL attended the 37th meeting of the ECHA Member State Committee (MSC) in Helsinki. Representatives participate in several REACH processes and are responsible for resolving divergences of opinions among Member States and on proposals for the identification of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs). German medical association debates health in energy transition

HEAL co-hosted an expert seminar on health in the German energy transition, together with the German Medical Association (Bundesärztekammer), the largest doctors network in Germany; and the German Society of Hygiene, Environmental and Public Health Sciences (GHUP). Read more…

Open letter to UN Secretary General on fracking

On the eve of the international day of action to ban fracking on 11 October, over 250 groups from 40 countries including HEAL, signed a letter urging UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon to reject fracking as part of the Sustainable Energy for All Initiative (SE4AII). Read more…

Green Climate Fund should exclude financing of fossil fuels

HEAL has signed on to a letter asking the Board of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to exclude the financing of fossil fuels and other harmful energy projects or programs. Read more…

Flexibility mechanism on air pollutants will undermine drive towards better regulation

European environmental and health organisations including HEAL have expressed grave concerns over proposals for a trade-off scheme for pollutants in the EU Clean Air Package. They say it risks rendering the National Emissions Ceiling (NEC) Directive completely unworkable. Read more…
